After davening in the morning Eidah Alef boys had nagarut and drama. In drama they had to create a skit about Tisha B'av and perform it in front of the rest of the bunk. The girls had to write their prayers on kotel stones that they made out of clay.
A geniza is a repository where holy items such as prayer books, talitot and buried when they are old and unusable. Chanichim at machane today learned about the geniza concept and buried items that were no longer needed at machane.
Eidah Gimmel had sheurim about Tisha B'av and Yerushalayim.
Eidah Hey watched a presentation about the Israeli Army and then wrote Rosh Hashanah cards to Israeli soldiers.
Eidah Bet's activity took them back in time to the destruction of the temple and gave them scenarios where they had to choose their own adventure.
Machal was divided into three groups today. One group stayed in camp and did projects, a group of girls went to Camp Sternberg and worked in their Yachad program. A third group, featured here, went to the Honesdale Jewish Cemetery where they cleaned and righted up tombstones that had fallen. They also rebuilt parts of the wall between the regular and the Jewish part of the cemetery. Earlier in the day they learned the laws of going to a Jewish cemetery to prepare themselves for this chesed shel emet.
