Camp Moshava's Vocational Training Program for Individuals With Special Needs

Camp Moshava is very proud of its vocational training program in partnership with Yachad. Now in its seventh year, Camp Moshava hosts six developmentally disabled adults who in turn, work in various positions in camp. Hailing from across the U.S., the Yachad staff work together with other members of our American and Israeli staff and build meaningful relationships throughout the camp. Those relationships are facilitated through learning partnerships (Chevrutot), staff night activities, and other joint programming and one-on-one mentoring by job coaches. Our gifted Talia Kaplan, the head of Moshava's Yachad work program, supervises job coaches, who guide the Yachad staff in their daily work and in their mainstreaming. We are fortunate to have Simcha, Pora, Ben, Racheli, and Sara, our job coaches, who embrace their work with warmth and enthusiasm and truly enhance our Moshava team. The job training and life skills the participants have received at camp have led to employment opportunities and independent living situations.

We are fortunate to have Ellen, who delights the kids in the Gan and works in the bakery, Jeremy, as our diligent and charming waiter, Noah, who adds spice to the day-to-day responsibilities of the canteen, Shira, who charms all who work with her in the office, and Navah, who brings warmth and cheer to Gan and learns in the Beit Midrash, as well!

Camp Moshava is interested in strengthening our program and facilities, and further enhancing our services in this area. If you are interested in learning about the needs of this program, or opportunities to help us find funding to provide greater ease and access to disabled children and adults, please contact our office.

And in other news today...moshava became a lego lovers heaven today as architect Steven Schwartz worked with campers from all eidot to build Yerushalayim using over 50,000 lego building blocks.

Campers split off into small groups by Eidah to build the sights and attractions of Yerushalayim.

We invite you to join in the fun! (Click here for a video clip)
