Moshava campers learned a powerful lesson this past week in courage,
determination, and simchat chaim (joy of life) from Michal Emunah,
an eleven year girl with cancer who despite having lost her eyesight recently,
has become a talented pianist and songwriter. Brought to the United States by
Rabbi Rivlin, of Teaneck, to meet the students of Westchester day School who
had been writing to her and to celebrate her bat mitzvah year, Michal
and her mother spent the past week in Machane Moshava at Alan Silverman’s
invitation, enjoying the activities with campers her age.
On Motzei Shabbat she performed for the entire camp, to the applause and
respect of all.
