Tisha B'Av in machane is always very powerful. Candles
and staff singing slow, appropriate songs line the gravel paths, as
campers walk up in small groups, into the chadar ochel.
Everyone gathers in the Chadar Ochel and sits on the floor for
the reading of Eichah and several campers introduce vignettes
depicting some of the many tragedies that occurred on this day in
history.
Special mention is made of Judah Schwartz, a machal madrich who
tragically died several years ago.
Today, T'isha B'Av , was a more serious day in Machane as campers
were engaged in sichot (talks) and t'filla. The central activity was
the creation of a living history museum by campers in eidot bet and
gimmel, depicting time periods throughout Jewish history. The museum
was on view throughout the day for the other eidot.
