Chesed shel Emet

Camp Moshava has embarked on a chesed project to help the Jewish community of Honesdale. Rabbi Lavi Cooper, of our chinuch staff, explains to the campers who have volunteered to clean tombstones, how to act at the cemetery with kavod.

The chanichim cleaned the tombstones and then were gratified
to be able to read the inscriptions.

It was interesting to note that many members of the community
were originally from Germany, Prussia and Bavaria.

The group noticed that one of the grave markers had that
day as the yahrzeit and they said tehillim there.

The next phase of the project will be to decipher the tombstones and to document who is buried where in the cemetery.
