Eidah Gimmel

This month's theme in camp is Yerushalayim.  When the "Beit Hamikdash" stood in Jerusalem, the Jews would make 'aliyah l'regel -pilgrimages three times a year. They would offer sacrifices and give them to  the Cohanim.

In camp we re-enacted this process. To become pure enough to enter the Temple, campers had to take a mikveh or ritual bath.
When offerings were brought they were accompanied by an offering of "ketoret" or incense.  The incense, created by Eidah Gimmel, can be used for besamim.

Campers made baskets to carry their offerings in.
